This event was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the first flight of the Bulgarian cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov in space aboard the spacecraft "Soyuz-33" with a Russian cosmonaut, crew commander Nikolai Rukavishnikov under the patronage of the Minister of Defense of Bulgaria A.Naydenova.
The scientific conference in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences evaluated the Bulgarian part of the "Intercosmos", in which the participants learnt about the latest achievements of the Bulgarian science in the field of space research, in particular the measurement of radiation environment and space plasma parameters using the technique developed by the Bulgarian Institute for Space Research and Technology. Special attention was paid to the Bulgarian equipment installed on the International Space Station in 2013.
This anniversary commemoration held more than 20 bilateral and multilateral meetings. The general conclusion is, according to the Minister of Defense of Bulgaria: "Bulgaria is ready to participate in space programs and re-send the Bulgarian citizen in space. But it should be recognized that it is possible to realize only when the country participates in international space projects."
