Joint Russian Exhibition at CeBIT-2014, the World’s Leading Event for Information Technologies, Telecommunications, and IT Solutions and Services

The 21st united Russian exposition at CeBIT-2014 was presented as part of the Russia–EU 2014 Year of Science, a year of activities and initiatives that aim to promote cooperation between Russia and the EU in science, university education, and innovations.

The activities related to the organization of the Russian exposition at CeBIT-2014 were carried out, under the auspices of the Russian Ministry for Education and Science, by the International Union of Instrument and ICT Engineers.

In 2014, within the framework of the Russian exposition there were presented the developments of more than 40 Russian companies and organizations - Russia’s major research centers, institutes of the Russian Academy of Science, national research centers, industry research institutions, major national universities, research and production companies, and small innovation businesses that represented the high level of information and computer technologies in Russia. The exposition presented the developments of research institutions and universities from 13 regions of the country: Moscow and Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Vologda, Yekaterinburg, Kaluga, Kursk, Orenburg, Rostov, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Yakutsk.

One of the main goals of the united exposition was to show achievements in R&D attained as part of specialized national programs financed by the government.

All together Russian exhibitors presented more than 100 solutions within the following scope of basic and applied IT categories:

  • information society technologies and social IT solutions,
  • network solutions,
  • decision support solutions,
  • intelligent navigation and management systems,
  • geo-information systems,
  • technologies for protection, processing, transmission, and storage of information,
  • electronic components,
  • intelligent transport systems,
  • mobile solutions, telecommunications, etc.

This year the Government of Ulyanovsk region not only presented a few projects to the CeBIT exhibition, but also benefited from this huge event to promote its international success: the Executive Committee of the World e-Governments Organization of Cities and Local Governments (WeGO) elected Ulyanovsk region to be its Regional European Office. 

In 2014, the business programme of the Russian exposition included topical presentations, visits of Russian and foreign delegations, and meetings with representatives of major IT companies. This year, Russian delegation’s business activities were focused on bilateral meetings with potential partners.

As a result of CeBIT 2014 Russian organizations signed 12 agreements on joint mutually beneficial cooperation with EU-partners.
