ICMM-2014 – 14th International Conference on Molecule-Based Magnets

The 14th International Conference on Molecule-Based Magnets (ICMM-2014) was held from 5 to 10 July 2014 in Saint-Petersburg (Russia). It is a major international forum that coordinates all researches in the field of molecular magnetism - from creation to the practical use of this class of magneto active compounds.

The complexity of the objects and the high level of interdisciplinary researches involve the participation in the work of chemists, physicists, biologists and specialists in the field of new materials. The most intensive works on these problems began and continue in the most developed countries, supported by national and regional councils of molecular magnetism.

In Russia, the International Conference on molecular magnets was held for the first time. It was attended by more than 340 researchers from 30 countries from all over the continents. The Russian delegation included representatives of the Institute of Semiconductor Physics SB RAS (Novosibirsk), the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute RAS (St. Petersburg), the Institute of Problems of Chemical Physics RAS (Chernogolovka), the Institute of Crystallography RAS (Moscow), the International Tomography Center SB RAS (Novosibirsk), the Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry at the Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don), the Kazan State Technical University (Kazan), the Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry RAS (Moscow), the Razuvaev Institute of Organometallic Chemistry RAS (Nizhny Novgorod).

The conference showed that the area of molecular magnetism is one of the fastest growing multi-disciplinary areas of modern science. This is understandable: the molecular magnetically active materials are of interest not only for fundamental research, but also create new trends in the field of high technologies. ICMM-2014 gave all the participants the best opportunities for the establishment of new and strengthening of existing scientific relations, the organization of effective cooperation on the use of the most modern methods of investigation.
