International conference "Biotechnology and Quality of Life"

The International Conference “BIOTECHNOLOGY AND QUALITY OF LIFE”  was held 18-20 March, 2014 in Moscow, St. Novy Arbat, 36/9, within the framework of the Moscow International Congress “Biotechnology: State of the Art and Prospects of Development”. The event has been held since 2002. The organizers were the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation with the support of the Department of science, industrial policy and entrepreneurship of Moscow, the Russian Academy of Sciences and JSC “Expo-biochim-technologies”.

In the conference took part about 2,000 scientists and engineers from 34 regions of Russia, 23 foreign countries. Participants of the conference were representatives of state legislative and executive structures, embassies of different countries, leading academic institutions of the Russian Federation and Europe - leaders in their fields, universities that train specialists for the biotechnology industry, Russian and foreign pharmaceutical companies, Russian and foreign companies - producers of innovative equipment, diagnostic and medical equipment, pharmaceutical clusters, companies and centers that provide technology transfer.

One of the conference events - “COLLAB4SAFETY WORKSHOP on Sustainable global cooperation on food safety” was conducted with the assistance of European experts - leaders and members of international consortia carrying out different projects on food security (SELAMAT, SAFEFOODS, GO-GLOBAL, BIOCOP, NANOLYZE). Experts from leading organizations from Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, China, Britain and Russia discussed urgent issues of food safety.

During the conference were called the priorities for the development of pharmaceutical, medical, food biotechnology using advanced technologies of areas such as nanotechnology, genomics, proteomics, nuclear technology, cellular technology, genetic engineering and computer technology for the construction of vaccines or materials. One of the important directions is the development of new forms of drugs and check their quality and efficiency, produced under GMP standards.
