Stress and Anti-Stress: diagnostics, adaptation and management

The results of stress response are seen in many areas: physiology, behavior, subjective experience, and cognitive functions. With the growing public interest to these issues, a format of open interdisciplinary Workshop is now in demand.

The most of European population (up to 80 %) is exposed to various forms of stress. First, stress (distress) can make a significant contribution to pathogenesis of socially important diseases of Europeans, chronic stress can also lead to mental illness and depression. Therefore early diagnostics of chronic stress and adaptation to control and to neutralize their effects are now very important for social well-being in Europe. Second, acute stress could be the spice of life, the complete elimination of stress would be equivalent to death (according to Hans Selye). Due to stress response (eustress), organism mobilizes the body's defense reactions and adaptation to overcome the unfavorable trials and to improve the adaptive capacities. The results of stress response are seen in many areas: physiology, behavior, subjective experience, and cognitive functions.

With the growing public interest to these issues, a format of open interdisciplinary Workshop is now in demand where experts from various scientific fields as well as students and journalists can learn the scientific achievements, listen the world's leading experts - scientists whose articles are published in the journals like “Nature” and “Science”. Round tables for scientists, clinicians and experts in applied sciences interested in a variety of areas: psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, educators, manufacturers of research and diagnostic equipment will be organized at the Workshop. Our Workshop - one of the first steps.
